In continuation with the [series on theme microscopy](https://metastudio.org/t/do-it-youself-diy-microscopy/5142), this week’s focus will be on Foldscope an origami paper microscope. We will learn its possible use in enquiry based learning and explore its design. The session will be in a conversational format anchored by @edurafi along with participation of mentors, students and educators.

> Lights, Camera, Action: How to convert your Smartphone into MicroScope for less than a $1? Webinar [Link](https://webinar.hbcse.tifr.res.in/b/rs7-7hj-une) at 3:30 pm on Thursday, Nov 19. Do you know, you can attach a lens from a low-cost laser pointer or non-functional CD-DVD player and upgrade your smartphone into a digital microscope? The idea is inspired from many such attempts by community members to design a simple setup to convert your smartphone into the microscope ( see design by [Yoshinok](https://www.instructables.com/10-Smartphone-to-digital-microscope-conversion/) and recently by [Singh, M.](https://metastudio.org/t/jugaad-camera-for-close-up-shots/3832) and [Kiran](https://metastudio.org/t/diy-phone-microscope-jugaad-to-see-tiny-objects/4185) ). > Building a Microscope using a Webcam You do not need to know any electronics to do this project A microscope magnifies small objects to explore the beautiful world of microorganisms or anything that cannot be seen by our naked eyes. It will make us realize that a big world exists even in a drop of pond water. So, can we build a microscope ourselves? Yes! Of-course you can build your own microscope, using which you can also take pictures and videos. The picture shown below is one of the very lo…

> About five years ago we conducted a workshop in collaboration with [artscienceblr.org](http://artscienceblr.org) at HBCSE, TIFR. The workshop was conducted by [Yashas Shetty](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/) The recent DIY microscopy workshops we did with students reminded me of that workshop. Do visit this blog published to see those pictures. [https://artscienceblr.org/index.php/diy-laboratorycube-mumbai/](https://artscienceblr.org/index.php/diy-laboratorycube-mumbai/) At the end of the day-long workshop, we made about 9 microscopes.
