**From moina to Amoeba…**
So the discussion started with _Tanvi from Goa group_ as she discussed about _moina_ that her teacher showed here, we were discussing about _how moina feeds on bacteria._ Bacteria, those are feeding on _milk_ and from here we went to _curd_ and from there to _Curd streaking on potato slice,_ which tanvi performed in her last semester I guess. As we were discussing _how 1 bacteria transferred from curd will divide and grow in number as it forms a colony, also bacterial colony will grow accordingly._
But **how do this bacteria divide?**
As we were about to discuss, tanvi told it’s _binary fission_ and othe similar types and I told binary fission is seen in **amoeba** which is a bacteria too… **No it’s not a bacteria,** a unicellular organism… _To be continue…_

**Something I never knew before!!**
As I got confused between _bacteria and amoeba,_\* we discussed their structure in detail
**I never knew that bacteria will have just one chromosome**
So major difference we disused about were

1. Bacteria has a cell wall and inside that there’s a cell membrane. But in Amoeba only cell membrane in present
2. Bacteria doesn’t have a well developed nucleus or nuclear membrane, so the DNA 🧬 is present in cytoplasm. Amoeba has a nucleus with genetic material in it
3. Along with chromosomal DNA, bacteria also extra chromosomal DNA (Plasmid), whereas in amoeba, there’s only DNA but many chromosome (Pair of chromosomes)
4. In bacteria, DNA is bounded with Non-histone protein and in amoeba, DNA is wrapped around histone protein

Reference…
Most bacteria have a genome that consists of a single DNA molecule (i.e., one chromosome) that is several million base pairs in size and is “circular” (doesn’t have ends like chromosomes of eukaryotic organisms).
