The discussion on the plant model Cardamine. The setup of the experiment to see the rate of germination of the seeds under different conditions. We can also see that two different coloured seeds are being used here. The colour of the seeds help in determining the expected time and rate of germination.
The main requirement of the germination experiment; the seeds!
Harvesting and ageing of seeds being seen here. We have seeds from the start of the year i.e. from January. The interesting finding is, the seeds harvested in the month of January got germinated (60percent of them) and the freshly harvested seeds did not!
The experiment in the limelight; the Floral Dip method (used to transfer the Kanamycin resistance gene) in the Cardamine Plant.
It feels good to know that the experiment that is being discussed in CUBE ChatShaala, was earlier performed by biologists from the Max Planck Institute in Germany. And as a part of CUBE Home Labs, we are devising experiments to perform a similar kind of experiment with home-borne methods!
