Seeds (without soaking) will germinate between 6 and 17 days. Soaking the seeds overnight, but not more than 24 hours, will reduce the germination time.

Is it true that the number of days or time required for seed germination differs between seeds soaked in water and those germinated in moist tissue paper?
Cubists created a setup to observe the results.
Seed germination setup
1. chitralekha,DSC delhi
Immersing/soaking moong bean seeds in water as compared to placing them on wet filter paper enhanced germination.
In the top setup, seeds placed on with wet filter paper. In the bottom setup, seeds soaked in water.
Shall repeat experiment to confirm.
Setup on 08/09/24 at 08:26 pm.

Out of 40 seeds 7 seeds started germinating .

Research Question: How many days will mustard seeds take to germinate when soaked vs when not soaked?
Hypothesis: Both will take the same number of days to germinate.
Setup: I used two plastic cups. One cup contained 20 mustard seeds that were soaked in water, while the other cup had 20 seeds placed on moist tissue paper.
Expectation: Both sets of seeds will take 4 days to germinate.

Repetition of seed germination on Green gram by Chitralekha,CUBE DS College, Delhi.
Results obtained similar to the earlier experiment. Immersion of seeds in water enhanced germination but retarded subsequent radicle growth as compared to seeds placed on wet tissue paper.

## A collaborative approach to find out the factors involve in germination of seeds..
Total 20 Moon bean seeds (green grams) are used to study the rate of germination in different medium. Two bottle lids are taken and labelled as A and B.
Set up A cap has 4 layers of tissue paper and set up B has water.
10 moong seeds are placed in each of the bottle lids.
Expectations: The rate of germination of seeds which are submerged in water will be higher (set up B ) than the seeds which are kept on moist tissue paper, Where as the growth of the seedlings will be faster in set up A than Set up B.

What a significant difference is seen in the length of redicles of these seedlings in different medium (layers of Moist tissue and seeds submerged in water).
