Sleep-Wake Mutants in Phyllanthus

Like fruit flies have a sleep-wake cycle the same way Phyllanthus which is a plant also has a sleep-wake cycle, Theertha from Kerala has observed that her Phyllanthus plant leaves open and close at a time interval of 12 hrs.
She wants to find out if there are mutants of Phyllanthus which can open or close differently.

Theertha has found that there is Factor 8 and Factor 3 which are involved in opening and closing of leaves.
Through discussion we have come up with an idea to find natural mutants of Phyllanthus.
We also thought if we can change the sleep-wake pattern of Phyllanthus by upregulating or downregulating levels of Factor 8 using some chemicals artificially from external?
