[10:59 AM, 8/3/2021] Priti Kanade Cube Mumbai: Our cardamine can grow anywhere!
Even in a coconut shell
This is here from how much time?
How are you maintaining so many of them for such a long time?
[11:23 AM, 8/3/2021] SukritiYes, sir. It was really interesting to know that those relatively small depressions (isolated from each other by the concrete/metal base of the lids) are correlated with the islands (isolated from each other by the sea).
A question comes up in my mind: How the colonization of species gradually happened in these depressions?
Let’s say one of the lid is replaced today with a brand new one (but has the same design as the earlier lids). How will be the organisms colonizing this new place? What are the basic requirements of an organism to survive in a new place?
[11:32 AM, 8/3/2021] Arunan HBSCE: Are we expecting the same profile of organisms in the depressions, once we replace an old man-hole lid with a new one? @Sukriti CUBE Mango Why?

[11:36 AM, 8/3/2021] Arunan HBSCE: @Priti Kanade Cube Mumbai for your curiosity! And ofcourse, for all others!
[11:44 AM, 8/3/2021] Arunan HBSCE: To a similar question when asked to the Jumping Gene fame Nobel winner Barbara McClintock on her model system Maize plants she apparently said, “I just ask the plants, and they tell me the story”.
@Priti Kanade Cube Mumbai
So, I just asked the Cardamine seeds first and then the plants; they told me what they wanted!
That’s all!
[11:46 AM, 8/3/2021] SukritiThe new lid depression will be colonized by the organisms who are living in the nearest old lid depression.
I would not say that the exact same profile of organisms will be there from the start. Because habituation in a already established ecosystem and in a totally new ecosystem is different. There might be some early colonisers followed by some late colonisers, who will gradually acquire their niches in their newly formed habitat.
So with time, they might show the same profile of organisms if both the depressions are maintained under the same environmental conditions.
@Arunan HBSCE sir
[12:10 PM, 8/3/2021] Arunan HBSCE: An interesting research question and a doable one,indeed.

[1:04 PM, 8/3/2021] Shraddha CUBE: In Control- from 6:20 am
[1:05 PM, 8/3/2021] SukritiMosquitoes prefer these places for their breeding, right.
But the amount of water stored in these depressions is quite less. It might get evaporated soon (if continuos rainfall is absent). Then what will happen to those eggs? It might lead to a significant downfall in offspring survivability.
It seems that mosquito does not care about it. In other words, they show no such parental care for their eggs and offsprings.
