BFC Session-47 [May 14 2022] Currency, badges and NFTs: Where do they get the value from?

PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGED TIME: Given a popular request we are shifting the barefootchat sessions to 630-730 pm on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays, starting from March 12th.

In the last session, we reflected on certificates and currency and the authorisation by institutions entrusted by the society and appreciated the fine balance of maintaining this trust. We also landed on gaps in our understanding of inflation, currency value comparisons etc. Please check the recording of the session and the discussion in the thread.

Extending this, we will continue our chat live, this Saturday, 14 May 2022, from 6:30-730 pm at webinar

Please share the post widely among and invite your young friends and colleagues.

Here is an interesting read on the culture of NFTs and other pursuits.

An excerpt: “This counter-culture isn’t as aimless as it might appear. Beneath the obstinance lies a real desperation. As the fabric of our economy continues to fray, there is a reckless and perhaps even poetic desire to strike out at the financial masters that are pulling at the seams.”
