Challenge:
We got to know that we are presenting for the conference in Chatshaala!
We were super nervous as we didn’t have any idea what are we going to do, how are we going to do…
Power of Collaboration and Documentation :
Cubists helped us in compiling data. Metastudio proved to be a great help. That’s the power of documenting
Thus, we could make a presentation (instead of poster as one can edit ppt to streamline the flow)
On Day
The Gene, Genetics and Genomics conference organised by GATC at NIRRCH was insightful
Eminent speakers were present. Right from Pragya Yadav from NIV who gave insight about Corona Virus and vaccine development to Dr. Usha Padmanabhan from Haffkine Institute who gave insights about the research on scorpions, how they are undergoing some kind of mutations which is yet to be understood properly.
There were 25 poster presentations and we were glad to be one of them, though we presented in the form of ppt due to time constraints
Who is your audience?
We started our presentation by asking our first group of spectators who is the person given in picture? There were pictures of Noble laureate Venki Ramkrishnan and cricketer Virat Kohli
They inturn asked, “Do you know who we are?”
They were scientists and we didn’t know, which they said happens coz they are not in newspapers like Virat Kohli
Learning
From next group, we evaluated the audience, gauged their understanding and explained Model systems that they could relate to instead of explaining all 100 slides!
Resonance
The audience liked our theme: Learning and Teaching by doing - Context to Curriculum
The audience liked the idea of doing science anywhere and anytime. How we had connected for online causerie for 1656 days since pandemic!
We could rope in some PhD students in CUBE Movement!
Some scientists also showed interest in joining CUBE!!!
Overall it was a good learning experience
