Cubists participation
CUBE Workshop at Azim Premji University, Bhopal:
The CUBE workshop was held at Azim Premji University from 8th to 10th February.
Drawbacks: There was no active follow-up on model systems.
I presented the Homelab stories of Common mormon in a Seminar conducted by GHSS Kayanna, Kozhikode on 6th February 2025.
Chatshaala Discussions:
1)Cardamine
In the context of genetic engineering, Cubists discussed Bt cotton and Beta carotene genes.
Cubists involved:Kiran, Rechel,Akansha and others.
2)Mango Mapping
Comparison of mango tree flowering/non-flowering status in India.
Cubists involved:Enas,Hina, Rechel,Batul, Seethalakshmiand others.
3)Fruit Fly
CsBz fruit flies and Park13 fruit flies.
Olfactory assay using the larvae of fruit flies conducted by Batul.
Cubists involved:Batul, Akansha and others.
4)Nematodes
Isolation using soil samples.
Cubists involved:Batul,Enas and others.
5)Nail Growth Study
Based on a photo shared, Cubists tried to identify the age and sex of the individual.
Cubists involved:Rechel, Sailakshmi, Kiran and others.
6)Microbes
Culture and identification.
Cubists involved:Enas,Vamshika and others.
7)Snails
Discovery of Eric Kandel’s work on learning and memory.
8)Kashyap’s Findings on Larvae on the Wall:
We discussed Kashyap’s observations where he found larval eggs that hatched into larvae on a wall. We discussed the host specificity of moths and butterflies and the reasons why they lay eggs on the wall.
Developing Context for Curriculum:
The structure of proteins, names, and the scope of competitive exams were discussed.
