Drosophila melanogaster CsBz culture in Home lab, Ranchi Jharkhand

After the CUBE workshop, Azim Premji university Bhopal. On 10th Feb, 2025, i got CsBz fruit flies from Azim Premji University Bhopal Lab. From Fatima who is also a student working with the fruit flies model system.

Brought to the Ranchi Jharkhand on 13th Feb 2025.

I have prepared TRSV media ( Tomato Rava Suger Vinegar media) for fruit flies in the Home. Ranchi Jharkhand

Objective: to maintain CsBz fruit flies. Which I brought to Ranchi from Azim Premji university Bhopal. After the CUBE Workshop.

To make TRSV media ( Tomato Rava Suger Vinegar media) I took reference from @ Aswathy’s post on meta studio. Fruit flies study in home lab - #3 by saswathy679

TRSV MEDIA
I used 2 small Tomatoes,
2 cap rava ,
1 cap sugar,
15ml vinegar
and about 200ml of water.

I used 15ml medicine cap to measure the rava, suger and vinegar.

STEPS

1. in a hot pan pour water (~ 100ml).
2. Added 2 cap rava, 1 cap sugar and mashed tomato.
3. stirred until the rava gets cooked and becomes like a paste.
4. Added more water (~ 100ml) and cook again by stirring.
5. Added 15ml vinegar.

Made it in low flame, and transferred it into the clean bottles and vials.

After transferring TRSV MEDIA in bottles and vials, covered it with aluminium foil and fixed it with rubber bands.

I pressure cooked for steam sterilization by the pressure cooker. After the 1st whistle I kept for 15 min. Then turned off the gas. And Opened the lid of the pressure cooker after the cooker cooled down.
