Electrolysis of water with things present at home

Good afternoon everyone.

Yesterday, I got a challenge,

“Can you perform an experiment Involving electrolysis of water using simple ingredients available at home.”

I performed this experiment and got amazing results.

So here is the experiment-
Apparatus required:

  1. One glass tap water.
  2. two to three teaspoon salt.
  3. two pencils.
  4. a cutter
  5. a piece of cardboard.
  6. a 9V battery.
  7. wires

Now here is the procedure:
1.Trim the pencils as shown in image.

2.cut a hole through cardboard to fit pencils in it.
3.Add some salt to water to make it a good conductor of electricity.

4.Now place the cardboard on glass with pencils placed through it.

5.Join the wires with battery.

6. Now join the black wire on left and red wire on right pencil.
7. Observe the reaction.

This was an amazing reaction .
