*Set up-A: o trap 3 single gravid female fruit flies.
I kept two slices of tomato on a white plate as a bait to attract fruit flies. This was set up on the kitchen table at 2.pm
0 flies spotted on the bait at 3.20pm.

I observed every half an hour to see if any gravid female flies are getting attracted to the bait.
1 gravid female fly spotted at 4.10pm
11 flies were spotted at 2.25pm

Set up - 2 : To trap 5-6 fruit flies
I took a plastic bottle(250ml). Placed a slice of tomato in it. Kept open for the fruit flies to get attracted. Within less than an hour, at 10.51am, I could see 6 flies on the tomato slice inside the bottle. I slowly closed the bottle mouth using a cloth and a rubber band. I named this as Bottle A dated 12/05/25.
Photo taken on 12/05/25 at 4.40pm. Flies were actively feeding/flying around in the bottle. Among the 6 flies, 1 looked like a gravid female, 4 females and 1 male.

I made TRSV media.
Tomato-Rava-Sugar-Vinegar medium, many cubists have been using for culturing fruit flies.
I wanted the medium for 5 bottles. So I increased the quantity of ingredients 
Tomato: 2 egg sized (smashed)
Rava: 4 tablespoons
Sugar: 2 tablespoons
Vinegar: 30ml
Water: 300ml
Steps I followed:
Added 300 ml of water, 4 tbspoon of Rava, 2 tbspoons of sugar and well smashed tomato into the pan. Cooked this for 10 minutes under low flame. Stirred continuously while cooking. Then it is allowed it to cool. Added 30 ml of Vinegar into the pan. Mixed well. Soon it is transferred into the clean and dried bottles using a plastic funnel.
TRSV medium is readyyy!!! Transferred the captured 3 gravid female fruit flies into 3 different bottles. Named it B, C, D
