Hey Everyone,
Today we will be seeing how lighting is formed?
This will be fun and interesting so lets start-
You must have heard of Ben Franklin. Did you know he flew a kite during a thunderstorm? He wanted to prove that lightning is a form of electricity. We know now that flying a kite in a storm is not safe. But, Ben was right. Lightning is a form of electricity. How does this “electricity” form?
What do You Need to Make Lightning?
First we need to start it from the formation of clouds. Clouds are formed from the process of evaporation, When evaporation is done it takes heat up with it. After this process thunder storm clouds are formed. In the clouds there are ice crystals present and the evaporated water contains water droplets. When the thunderstorm starts the ice crystals and water droplets bump in each other and form static charge, Which we see as lighting.
Now lets discuss it a bit more, Its just like a battery The clouds contain Positive Charges And Negative Charges. Positive Charges are present in the top of the clouds and Negative Charges are present in the bottom. When the Charge gets stronger, The clouds release energy which we see as Lighting
This energy travels through air. It goes to a place that has opposite charge. The lighting bolt that is coming out is known as Leader Stroke. It can hit Ground or Can go from Cloud to Cloud. Another observation is that a lighting bolt always goes back to the cloud. It will make a flash of lighting. From the place where Lighting travels it leaves heat. The air will spread quickly and make the sound of Thunder.
Thank you Everyone!
