Here’s how you can perform electrolysis using things available at home.
Apparatus: 1 transparent glass full of water
1 teaspoon salt
A 9v battery
Procedure:
1.Dissolve that one teaspoon salt in the glass of water to increase the conductivity of water
2.Now put the 9v battery in the glass of water.
Observation:
We observed that there were significant amount of bubbles rising from negative(-) terminal of the battery and there were significantly less bubbles from the positive(+) terminal of the battery.The bubbles rising from the negative(-) terminal of the battery were of hydrogen gas and the bubbles rising from the positive(+) terminal of the battery were of oxygen gas.
