Interlocking Wooden Rack & Easy Chair

Interlocking Wooden Rack

Introducing our interlocking wooden rack, yet another storage space to keep books or other essentials. We made this rack using an interlocking mechanism without any screws or wood adhesive.

Design and Construction

The shelf was created from old recycled wood. We used the wood that we got from the scrap dealer.

We used recycled wood to create the columns of the rack, of 2 inch width. We used the same wood for making the easy chair as well.

We used a planer and router to transform old wood into straight pieces.

June 20, Started making an interlocking rack for the electronics corner. The slots were made on the columns, and on the ply wood plank. The slots were made for 4 shelves.

June 22, First interlocking shelf completed.

Minor gaps were found after fitting the planks. We filled the gaps with small wooden pieces, which made the rack sturdy. Next time we do a similar project, we must take care of such goof-ups.

Easy Chair :

We used the same recycled wood to create a chair.

Testing the chair

The prototype, our new thinking spot to write a poem.

That’s how it worked, and then we joined it, ensuring measurements combined everything.

The next plan is to work on the bamboo designs for more easy chairs.
