I am part of a group working on passive cooling roof retrofits, primarily in informal settlements. We are currently taking physical measurements every hour to understand the difference of heat ingress into the habitation, banking on another similar house where there is no installation. We would want to shift to surface temperature data loggers, which can be placed on different parts of roof, wall, floor, etc. We have looked up at offerings of iButtons and Testo. But they are quite expensive and far out of our budgets. Requesting for any leads on budget friendly and simple surface data loggers with probes, so we can locate different points to obtain periodic data from.
Thank you.
Shall I assume that you want a data logger that fills a spreadsheet with temperature, time, and location please; not an InfraRed Temperature Sensor Gun that shows the temperature at a location when you point the gun towards that location?
IR Sensor guns are available for Rs 1000/=. We can write an Android App that sees the IR gun readings using the mobile camera, nicely tabulate the readings and message the row data to a data logger db on another device, maybe cloud or raspberry pi.
The Arduino IR Temperature reading is put out through its serial interface. Many other Sensor circuits too do the same. It is better that the readings are transmitted to the Data Logger or Database through IoT. There are Arduino boards with IoT support.
Android platforms too have IoT apps for communicating with sensors and actuators through IoT. Blynk IoT looks like a good Android App.
I recommend 1), buy an IR gun, see the readings on your Android mobile and log it.
