Aswathy had shared what are the Cube discussion which gives context to her curriculum that’s Circadian rhythm, hypoxia condition, identification of plant, DNA extraction mand many more .

After that Isha has joined and gave us the update on fruit fly single line Cultures.

  1. How to make a trap?.
  2. Where to place the trap?.
  3. When to look for fruit flies?.
  4. How to make TRSV medium?.
  5. How to transfer fruit fly from Bait bottle to TRSV medium bottle?.

Isha has got 70adults(Next generation) from one single gravid female with in 9Days**

These are the pictures of TRSV medium bottle maintaining by Isha…

The first bottle in the collage was the one which was made for the time to Culture the gravid trapped in bait bottle.

And on 23rd January 2021 25-25 flies were Transferred in other two bottles and first bottle left with 20flies.

We got to see the photos of different stages of life cycle from Isha’s fruit fly culture…

Amazing pics, excellent way of creating black background and eggs and other structures are very well visible…

We had discussed how to differentiate Male and female Fruit fly.

Interesting
We had seen the photos of eggs where the structure is very well visible.
What are these thread like structures on anterior part of an egg?.

Somebody says these are the Respiratory filaments which helps in Gaseous exchange and somebody has also added Respiratory filaments are also helping in getting nutrition…

But do eggs feed? If yes than how do they feed and on what do they feed?..

An interesting discussion came up is that what are these respiratory filaments? Where do they have come from?. Do they developed inside the body of fruit fly?

A reference picture was shared and which enabled us to understand the structure of an egg particularly fruit fly egg.

Yes the two projected thread are the Respiratory filaments and as the name is already staying they helps in respiration…

But the question remains the same? How do they developed? Do they developed inside the body of fruit fly through divisions?.

And how does an egg turns in to the Larva?. Do eggs hatch out and give Larvae?.

How chicken egg hatch out?. What’s the difference in Hatching and Development?.

Discussion went deep towards the fertilization…

How a sperm cell fuses with an egg cell and give rise a zygote?.

How two cells fused to form one cell?.
Is it the only Nucleus is fusing?.
How foetus is formed after repetitive divisions?.is it similar to what’s happening in the life cycle of fruit fly?.

Do fruit flies eggs hatch out to give Larvae??.
As per the discussion zygote goes under repetitive divisions and develops in to a foetus…

Similarly in case of fruit flies Zygote forms and undergoes division?. Is it true? Let’s try to varify this either by finding relavent reference or by observations…
