In the last session we had the discussion on how to isolate yeast or bacteria from fermented coconut water and in the discussion we have found and also made an hypothesis after observing the boiled potato slice which was inoculated with fermented coconut water.
HOW TO ISOLATE YEAST FROM FERMENTED COCONUT WATER…!
Before that:
WHAT IS YEAST?
What is an yeast? What does it do to the coconut water?
How does it look like?
Is it like granules?
How can we determine a yeast is unicellular or multicellular?
Different forms and strands of yeast? Not clear…?
As saccharomyces cerevisiae was used as model organism in HGP could you elaborate regarding the characteristics
Why was it used for it?
What happens to Coconut water when kept in a bottle ?
What happens to coconut water when kept in a glass bottle?
Why Yeast produces alcohol?
Could you please tell about the temperature and humidity conditions which will be optimal for its growth
What is Sucrose?
What will Yeast do with Glucose?
What happens to Glucose when Yeast consumes Glucose?
Aditya could you explain regarding the aerobic and anaerobic yeast as we Know it is an facultative anaerobe.
How will Aditya isolate and characterize Yeast from fermented Coconut water?
Lab Assistants?
Which plates?
How the yeast colonies look?
How will Aditya isolate and characterize Yeast from fermented Coconut water?
Lab Assistants?
Which plates?
How the yeast colonies look?
Will pasteurizing coconut water kill the spores also
HOW CAN WE PROVES THIS HYPOTHESIS THROUGH EXPERINMENT.?
Hypothesis : Coconut water selective media for to culturing yeast. Yeast is inhibiting growth of other microbes.
Experiment design explained by Saida, How to prove & disprove using Experiment.
Minimum requirements are Potato, Soil, Coconut water.
