Young Indian Science begins from Homelabs

Here are fresh cubists, surprisingly developing Microbiology Model Systems in CUBE HomeLab, Bangalore. Getting ready for the experiment after cleaning the hands with soap solution.post made by @Himanshu and reshared by @Arunan .

Very interesting discussion going on do boiled milk have any bacteria?
Post made by @Himanshu in context to curriculum WhatsApp group.

A 7 year old and a 2 year 10 month old kid asked a lot of questions on this and got ready to perform an experiment today on the 28th of April 2024

Getting ready for the experiment after cleaning the hands with soap solution

[28/04, 9:44 am] Himanshu Joshi: They have cleaned up the area before the setup using sanitizer.

[28/04, 9:46 am] Himanshu Joshi: Research question: Do boiled milk have bacteria?
Hypothesis: There should be no bacteria in the boiled milk.

SETUP:

Waiting for results to come

Closed lid setup after 12 hours of streaking with boiled milk

Without streaking open box setup after 12 hours of setting up an experiment

Open box after 24 hours of setup and no streaking

Test 1 and T2 are the setup where S shaped streaking was performed using boiled milk and a negative control where only toothpick was used for streaking. The picture is taken after 24 hour of setup.

[29/04, 10:55 am] Arunan sir : Expectation? What is the result after 24 hours? @⁨Himanshu Joshi⁩
How do we interpret it?
[29/04, 10:58 am] Arunan sir : Expectation, based on Hypothesis, description of Observation as in the photo and Interpretation? :+1::+1::+1::handshake: @⁨Himanshu Joshi⁩ and collaborators at CUBE NIMHANS and CUBE HomeLab, Banglore.
[29/04, 11:00 am] Himanshu Joshi: Expectation: We expect to see bacteria from air to grow on T1 and T2 as the lid was kept open for 24 hours
Result: There is no growth of bacteria or any other microorganism seen with the naked eye.
Plan: follow up for next 12 hours
[29/04, 11:05 am] Himanshu Joshi: Expectation: We expect to see no bacteria T1 and T2 as the lid was kept closed for 24 hours
Result: There is no growth of bacteria or any other microorganism seen with the naked eye in all T1,T2, and negative control
Plan: follow up for next 12 hours

36 hours after setup and by keeping the lid open !

Closed lid setup after 36 hours

Additionally, water droplets were found on the lid of the closed lid setup every time when we open the lid for taking photographs.

Arunan sir :See how more knowledgeable other inputs the information to the young brains very easily…
Why is it difficult when they grow up?
Is it a case of activation of Zone of proximal development? @⁨Himanshu Joshi⁩

[30/04, 11:01 am] Himanshu Joshi: The concept of zone of proximal development was developed by Lev Vygotsky. The shaded part shows what a learner can perform under guidance
He believed that children wouldn’t advance much unless they interact with more knowledgeable other here in this case 7 yr old is the guide and 2 yr 10 month old is the learner…
This is evident in the case of collaborative learning, where group members who have higher level of understanding can help less advanced members learn within their zone of proximal development
Therefore please collaborate!

[01/05, 8:36 am] Himanshu Joshi: 72 hour update after experiment in open lid box setup
[01/05, 8:37 am] Himanshu Joshi: The slices and samples have been disposed off keeping precautions after 72 hours of setting it up
