Research article about the ‘Chemical Basis rhythm in nyctinasty’.This says that 'pair of leaf movement factors regulate nyctinasty in Phyllanthus urinaria.Factor 8 & Factor 3.
1)It was found that the concentration of the leaf-
opening factor 8 remained nearly constant during the day,
whereas that of the leaf-closing factor 3 decreased during
the day(thats why leaf opening throughout the day).
2)The leaf closing factor 3 increased in night time.

Is Leaf Closing Factor 3 like PERIOD protein in the Fruitfly?
I guess, in yesterday’s discussion @Aastha Ahuja Cube @Lakshmy PJ CUBE @Abhijeet Singh and others were telling us that *PER protein synthesis is inhibited through a negative feed back by PER protein going and binding to its own Promoter region of the gene.
And that happens by morning and the concentration of PER protein is decreased, by that time.

Floral phenology of Stachytarpheta indica ( Family-Verbenaceae ) The plant attracts species of butterflies(Common Mormon, Tawny coster, Grey pansy, Common grass yellow, Common sailor, Common crow butterfly ).The inflorescence of the plant is spike which attains a maximum length of 25cms. The flowers are beautiful magenta in colour and appear when the inflorescence is 14.5cm. Each flower lasts one day. The flowers bloom in succession. The number of flowers blooming everyday varies from 2 to 10. The flowers bloom from base to apex. The total number of flowers bloomed per inflorescence varies from 30 to 45.The spike does not bloom at night. Anthesis occurs from 5.30 am to 7.30 pm. The longevity of flowers is 12 to 14 hours. During this span the nectar and pollen are available for the butterflies. The butterflies visit the flowers between 10am to 1pm. The flowers begin to close around 6pm.

Circadian rhythms in Drosophila require periodic interaction of the PERIOD (PER) and TIMELESS (TIM) proteins. Physical associations of PER and TIM allow their nuclear translocation, and autoregulation of per and tim transcription through a negative feedback loop. Because PER/TIM heterodimers are only observed when high levels of per and tim RNA have accumulated, self-sustained oscillations are produced in the feedback loop
Although molecular oscillations are maintained in constant darkness for per and tim RNA and for PER and TIM proteins, light can entrain the phases of these rhythms through rapid degradation of the TIM protein
