Our objective was to take a bottle and put some pieces of lemon in it and keep it near a dustbin to allow the fruit flies to feast on those pieces. We did this at 8:55 am.
Please send some pictures, as an evidence. How much time you will be keeping the trap? When will you collect it? How will you collect the traps?
Bottle was near the dustbin with some food for flies which is fruit at 8:45
What was there in bottle? Please give some explanation with details, lets not give one liner answers

we kept the plastic bottle with the pieces of rotten cheekoo

Food for flies which helps in attracting them and then when they come inside the bottle for the food ,we can put cotton on the top of bottle and catch it
After an hour or so we will go back near the dustbin and cover the bottle with a piece of cotton to trap the fruit flies in it
Will this be attracted by the fruit flies… If Yes then how much time will it take

Yes the fruit flies will be attracted due to the sweet and pungent smell as per the time,it depends upon the odour and pungency of the substance and how fast the flies are attracted to it
My apologies, but in my defence id like to tell you that i had gone along with my group to keep the bottle at a place where we might have a chance to trap the fruit flies. So we were busy finding such a place.
Only fruit flies will be there in the bottle or will me anything else?
We have kept some apple pieces inside our bottle and after an hour, we will go and collect the bottle.
Yes …and it may take 20 to 30 min…depends on the fruit😀

It depends on the surroundings. Fruit flies are usually found near garbage so there is a possibility other insects also get attracted for example ants

There can be house flies and ants because they are also attracted to sweet smells.
