Flies will attract more on sweet fruit orsour fruit?
Flies hate the smellof basil,lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint and lemongrass

@jaikishan sir in this we have put in some pieces of apple and kept it near the green dustbin( which is for biodegradable waste) outside yhe school canteen, we expect to find some fruit flies in it when we go to collect it after an hour.
Why fruit flies comes near dustbin if the like sweet fruit smell
Why aren’t fruit flies found at other places and only near garbage. There are many other places where we can find fruits like fruit markets

But fruits give the pungent smell to which they are attracted only when the fruit is cut open. They are attracted to garbage due to rotten fruit as rotten fruit has high pungency

Fruit flies are mainly attracted to moist, fermenting fruits and vegetables. However, they are also drawn to things such as drains, garbage disposals, empty bottles and cans, trash bags, cleaning rags and mops.

So if there is no rotten fruit , fruit flies will not be attracted do dustbins
Fruit flies are attracted to the pungency of a substance not necessarily a fruit
