Yesterday we cultured two of the earthworms, using moist tissue paper, a cup with small holes for water and a cloth to cover it up in order to make a healthy environment for them. Whereas, today I think that if our experiment yesterday turned out successful then we will make another different culture for them, improving some aspects and even learn more about snails and probably culture them as well
Some glances of our earthworm culture. We went for a stroll and on a clear patch of land made 3 circles using a stick. In one we poured salt water in the other was soapy and the last was normal water. We observed that in the circle with soapy water the earthworm emerged faster compared to the other two. The worm struggled its way in the salt water and was eventually dead.
Later on we shifted the collected earthworms to plastic cups using leafs. Though only some of them managed to survive. We prepared a apparatus of torn tissue papers and water. And transferred the worms. We hope that they live a happy life. Later we will observe the tissue palaver getting converted into soil like because of the presence of the earthworm in it. The two heroic survivors of our experiment were Fred and Geaorge.
The experiment is about studying the behavior of the earthworm using two tissue papers soaked with water to see how it responds when we put it in between the two tissues
When we did the experiment with water on water on both sides Earth worm in 9sec it moved it’s dry place to more wet place.
As we put the earthworm between the tissue papers we could notice that it quickly went towards normal water
as soon as we kept the earthworm on the glass slide it transferred to water side and the result was as expected . Hence our mission accomplished.
Hi … earthworm doing catwalk …on glass plates … doesn’t that sound interesting
One more observation of earthworm behaviour.
Design-
2 tissues with different solutions were placed parallel leaving gap in the middle for earthworm.
First we tried it with water on both tissues.
- Earthworm 1- It was a lazy one…took 2.21 minutes to reach the wet tissue. It slithered towards the right side.
- Earthworm 2-Literally very active and very hard to control. It took merely 4 seconds to the right damp tissue.
is it brought from BOMBAY?
Our third experiment is with soapy water and salty water waiting …for the results to come
