Now with salt solution,
Both the earthworms repelled salt solution but,
1st earthworm- It was really active and as soon as it touched salt water it repelled instantly and went towards plain water in about 15 seconds.
Here’s a look-
2nd earthworm-It also repelled salt solution but took around. 50 seconds to reached plain water
Here’s how to study earthworm’s behaviour towards different environments including salty water, normal water and soapy water.
We put the earthworm in between two stripes of water with different solutions eg. normal water on one side and salty water on the other.
Hence, giving it a choice and then the earthworm makes the decision by going towards the environment it prefers, thus, showing us its behaviour.
And our experiments show that earthworms clearly prefer normal water over soapy or salty water.
It was amazing to see earthworm’s response towards two different conditions. It chose to move towards the paper strip soaked with normal water other than soapy water.
Earthworms are extremely sensitive …they did not move towards the strip having soap solution imagine ourselves …how many chemicals are body is exposed to …our body too must be repelling so many chemicals …
But we are not may be noticing …can we draw some conclusion in human context

It immediately repelled from soap water strip n moved towards other end.
the toppic is interesting ,
can you tell me saomething else about this
How would you explain why earthworms repelled soapy water and went towards the normal water?
On using soap solution, both earthworms get repelled .Their movement also decreases on contact with soap.
Can you guess why earthworms are repelled by soap??!
Earthworm Culture
*We took a large glass slide.
*We folded 2 tissue papers paralleled across the slide and using a dropper we damped it with water.
*We transferred the earthworms in the narrow column in the middle. (make sure it is dry in the middle)
the earthworm moved towards the water, not the soap water as soap breaks down oil particles and the cell membrane in the cells of the earthworm is made up of lipids and proteins.
The soap breaks the lipids, hence damaging the cell membrane. This exposes the cell inclusions to the external environment causing rupture of cell membranes.
This leads to the shrinkage of earthworms and it ceases to survive.
It’s reaction when both of the tissue paper were damped with WATER
Our worm was a quite lazy in the beginning… It took a little time for it to adapt to the condition on the glass slide. After 2:21 it finally showed some motion. After that it did not take it much time to travel across the damp tissue. It went towards the right side.
The second one was very swift and sensitive compared to the first. It was very fast and literally hoped towards the water. We also observed that it was sensitive to sound. It only took it 20 secs to reach the right side.
It’s reaction when one was damped with water and another with SALT
Our worm had a very fast reaction towards the salty water. Without any laziness it was continuously cringing itself to life and when left free it rushed towards the tissue which was damp with water.
This one was some what similar to the first one only and showed a quick response to the salt solution. It was completely repelled by the taste of salt solution during the experiment and showed fondness towards the tissue paper which was damp with water.
