In this video, we begin reflecting specifically on Language abilities of human beings in comparison with other animals. These delve into the social as well as biological aspects leading to language. Towards the end, we arrive at questioning the importance of the question “what is being Human?”.
In this video, discussing the conditions of beingHuman, we touch upon generative syntax by Chomsky. We then work out some examples of the evolution of language and representations and make attempts to account for these.
In this video, we touched upon the Hegelian dialecticism, when we reflected on the aspects of balance, and dynamicity of the balance in relation to the identity of entities (e.g. a living thing need to be in dynamic balance with the environment to hold the identity of an organism, and the moment this dynamic balance is lost, it could disintegrate). We also reflected on the identity of inanimate things. And we reflected on the logical, conceptual oppositions. Then reflecting on relativist and ca…
In this video, we chatted about the nature of life and creation (living vs non-living entities and how they acquire and maintain integrated identities as against an amorphous collection of particles)
In this video, we continue the discussion on the origin of creation. Beginning from a multitude perspective, we wondered how do we have integrated entities, have integrated experiences or thoughts. How does the continuum in space as well as time emerge integrating these? And what is the nature of such a continuum? Triggered by the example of a robot and dynamic balance (steady-state or equilibrium), we started reflecting on the role of actions as dynamic relations that an entity has with anothe…
This was the last session of the year 2020 In this video, we continued our conversation on the multitude vs unity about the nature of origin of creation and causes for any effect, in general. In the process, we discussed the notions of agency and non-agential causes (or factors) leading to an effect. Towards the end, we hit at the notions of form/structure and content in shaping our understanding about the nature of reality (as multitude or unity).
In this video, we continue the analysis of “X made Y” and agency. We analyse what it means to “make” or “create”. Then we discuss the creation – the world – and debate possible views of explaining these consistently drawing on some ideas about steady-state theory of cosmology, and other theories of creation.

In this session, we start with an analysis of “X made Y”. We discuss what this entails, and touch upon the relation of Cause and Effect and the notion of “Time”. Then we critically look at the issue of creation and creator and the validity of such claims, from a complex systems perspective. We also explore the aspect of agency, emerging from the idea of a creator as an agent. Numerous examples were examined. Also see related discussion at "X made Y" Analyse this - #7 by palaneprashant
In this video, we continue the conversation on “what is being human?” and touch upon the issue of a Creator God again. Eventually, we end with a philosophical exercise.
See below post.
Recording of Session-8
In this video, we explore the fault-lines between religion and philosophy touching upon the notion of “God”, as we reflect on the features of being Human. This emerges as we allude to the human capacities of imagination and developing ideas. We end with a need to touch upon the relations between mind brain and culture. May be in future chats, we will discuss these as well.
Please view, share and discuss more continuing our chat!
In this video, wandering around the question of “what is being Human?” we reflect on the human activities of doing science, philosophy, and even cooking as rule-following games and eventually end wondering about non-human entities. An interesting thought, we end up with leading to next discussion is - “Does having two legs make us human or does a particular way of walking make us human?”
We started of with general conversation around what it is to be human?
We then touched upon various aspects anchoring on the very activity of doing Philosophy.
A natural free flowing conversation around the multiple issues of language, poetry, experience, ideologies and maturities were covered.
Here is the recording of the session.
In this video, we start with various activities that human Beings engage in ranging from Art, philosophy, science etc, and make an attempt to understand these as…
